SOAR’s Model UN Club Overview

SOAR’s Model United Nations (Model UN) Club offers students a unique opportunity to step into the roles of real-world leaders to discuss and address pressing global issues. Participants are assigned a country and a committee, where they thoroughly research their nation’s stance on various topics. During sessions, students debate, negotiate, and collaborate with delegates from other countries to form blocs. These blocs work together to draft comprehensive documents outlining the identified problems and proposed solutions.

The final stage involves presenting these documents to the committee, where they are debated and voted on for adoption and implementation. Through this process, students not only gain a deeper understanding of international relations but also develop a range of valuable skills, including:

  • Public Speaking: Enhancing communication and presentation abilities.
  • Leadership: Taking charge of discussions and guiding group decisions.
  • Research: Conducting thorough and effective research on assigned topics.
  • Global Awareness: Understanding diverse perspectives and global issues.
  • Organizational Skills: Managing information and coordinating tasks efficiently.
  • Confidence: Building self-assurance in presenting and defending ideas.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Improving teamwork and collaboration with peers.
  • Networking: Forming connections with like-minded students and mentors.
